A Thursday thought: Fashion through time

Last night as we were going through some tumblr finds, we stumbled upon some very interesting illustrations that managed to take us down the roads of fashion through out the 19th century. we sat marveling over the beautifully drawn art work and it got us quite fascinated to actually wonder how a matter of silhouettes, prints and colors can make you think of such lifetimes where things used to be so different and how those times reflect us today, how they reflect us all in some way. Looking through them one by one, we practically see ourselves in every picture, using up a little piece of the time and unconsciously or deliberately mixing those styles with our own.

We went out today to run some errands, wearing some rather comfortable loose blouses and smooth printed silk pants. A 90's and 20's crossover? Nope, just the 20's being completely IN now with a twist from the runways and some 90's love we could never really rid off. History that inspires us, today's designers artistic ways of molding it and some of 'our own sense of style' to it, perfect combination.

There was this quote by the New York times not too long ago that said 'The hardest thing to realize in fashion is that the future lies in the past. The second hardest thing is to forget the past.', Mind boggling, but that is where we are at the moment if you think of it in terms of fashion, between the past and our utter notion of the future.

Anyways just thought of sharing these pieces of art work with all of you to ponder on, turned a few sentences to paragraphs, but .. Full stop now, we're done with rambles for the day.

So, getting on with the point, Which is your favorite fashion time through history? Ours is definitely the 20's and 40's!

Have a happy weekend!

Song of the day: In my head there's only you now, this world falls on me, in this world there's real and make believe and this seems real to me, you love me but you don't know who I am, I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand and you love me but you don't know who I am. So let me go
